Colt Government Carbine is a lightweight, compact package offering 5.56mm firepower with optimal mobility. The 4-position telescopic buttstock allows the Government Carbine to adapt to operators of different sizes and physical characteristics as well as various firing positions and clothing variations. The M16A2 target sight is adjustable for windage and elevation to 800 meters. In today's demanding law enforcement environment, the Government Carbine is clearly an outstanding choice for patrol or tactical perimeter utilizations.

Colt 9 mm

The Colt 9mm Submachine Gun is a lightweight compact weapon encompassing the same straight line construction and design with the world known M16A2/A4 Rifle. This straight line construction, coupled with the low recoil associated with 9mm ammunition, provides highly accurate fire with less muzzle climb, especially in full automatic fire. Less recoil also facilitates ease of training and improves accuracy.
Like the M4 Carbine and Commando models, the Colt 9mm SMG fires from a closed bolt, is equipped with a sliding buttstock, and is readily field stripped without the need of special tools. Operation and training are similar to those of the M16A2/A4 Rifle, M4 Carbine or Commando, eliminating the need for substantial cross training.
The Colt 9mm SMG has a 26.7cm barrel and fires all standard 9mm ammunition. It is extremely well suited for military and paramilitary organizations with a definite need for a lightweight, compact weapon required to turn out sustained and controlled fire in close confrontations. It is also ideal in military and law enforcement situations where maximum concealability and lower velocity are required. Furthermore, due to its lack of over-penetration, it is desirable in the following areas: urban environments, boats and ships, in and around buildings, areas with crowds and airfields.
The rear field sight is adjustable for windage and incorporates two flip-type apertures for short range (0-50m) and long range (50-100m). The front sight post is adjustable for elevation. The Colt 9mm Submachine Gun is available with a Safe – Semi – Full Auto fire control selector (model R0635) or a Safe – Semi – Burst selector (model R0639).

M4

The Colt M4 Commando is a versatile weapon system with proven combat utility and performance providing the operator with the confidence required to accomplish any mission. The Colt M4 Commando is the most compact of Colt’s 5.56mm family of weapons. It features a four position sliding buttstock and a 11.5 in. (29 cm) long barrel and is designed for use wherever lightness, speed of action, mobility and close quarters combat are required. It can be comfortably carried, yet be instantly available to provide the power of a 5.56mm weapon.
Applications in Close Quarters Combat, light weight, ease of handling, accuracy and reliability are qualities that make the Commando a valid choice of many special units and mission specific assignments. The M4 Commando meets all of the Special Forces’, Front-Line Infantry, Paratroopers’, Unit Commanders’, vehicle crews’ and numerous security forces’ operational needs. Furthermore, Colt’s M4 Commando is often chosen over smaller less powerful sub-machine guns, allowing for full 5.56mm power and accuracy, in a sub-machine gun size weapon.
Regardless the application, the Colt M4 Commando will provide the superior qualities that will enable the user to accomplish the stated mission. The new concepts of rapid deployment, mobility and increased firepower play a major part in the overall strategy of modern warfare. Increased emphasis is now put on small tactical units that engage in close combat and are able to “get in and out” fast. Colt’s M4 Commando can successfully surpass these operational requirements.

M16 A2

LIGHTWEIGHT, RELIABLE, ACCURATE FIREPOWER The Colt Automatic Rifle is ideally suited to today’s modern warfare requirements for rapid deployment, mobility in battle, and high volumes of accurate fire. The Automatic Rifle builds on the strengths of the combat proven design while incorporating special features to increase its capability to deliver accurate, controlled and sustained firepower for the Infantryman.
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS The Colt Automatic Rifle is a gas operated, air-cooled, magazine fed, fully automatic weapon which fires from the open bolt position. The new, heavier barrel design increases stability, accuracy and heat dissipation. A new hydraulic buffer assembly is incorporated to achieve a firing rate of 600-750 rounds per minute. The Automatic Rifle features a rugged bipod design, which deploys and retracts rapidly and easily with the use of a single hand. The low cyclic rate of fire, heavy barrel, front grip, bipod and M16A2/A4 sighting system combine to yield unprecedented controllability and accuracy in a “light machine gun” at extended ranges.
COMMONALITY The Colt Automatic Rifle shares common features with the M16A2/A4 Rifle. The Automatic Rifle’s operating controls and handling characteristics are immediately familiar to soldiers trained in operating the M16 family of firearms. It uses the same wide variety of ammunition as the M16A2/A4 including M193, M855, SS109 and tracer rounds. The commonality of the Colt Automatic Rifle magazine and parts with the M16 family of weapons drastically reduces the training and logistics requirements to introduce the Automatic Rifle in service.

Colt’s M203 Grenade Launcher is a lightweight, single-shot, breech-loaded 40mm weapon designed especially for attachment to the M4 Carbine and the M16A2/A4 Rifle. It creates a versatile combination weapon system capable of firing both 5.56mm rifle ammunition as well as the complete range of 40mm high explosive and special purpose ammunition.
The most commonly used ammunition for the M203 is the M406 antipersonnel round, which has a lethal radius of five meters, and the M433 multi-purpose round which, in addition to having fragmentation effects, will penetrate up to 3 in. (7.6 cm) of armor plate. Many other types of ammunition are available, such as buckshot, tear gas, and various signal rounds, which greatly increase the versatility of this outstanding weapon.
The receiver of the M203 is made of high strength, forged aluminum alloy, which offers it extreme ruggedness, yet keeps weight to a minimum. A complete self-cocking firing mechanism, including barrel latch, trigger and positive safety lever is included in the receiver, allowing the M203 to be operated as a completely independent weapon, even though attached to the M4 Carbine or the M16A2/A4 Rifle. The barrel, which is also made of a high strength aluminum alloy, slides forward in the receiver to accept a round of ammunition, and slides rearward to automatically lock in the closed position, ready to fire.
The new concepts of rapid deployment, mobility and increased firepower now play a major part in the overall strategy of modern warfare. Providing M16A2/A4 Rifle and M4 Carbine with area firing capabilities, Colt’s M203 Grenade Launcher is an essential tool of every modern army.

Colt M16A4 Rifle is the fourth generation of the M16 weapon system. The M16A4 Rifle still represents the world standard by which all other weapons of this class are judged. Its combat proven performance is verified by the fact that over 8 million M16 weapon systems have been produced and placed in military service throughout the world. With a record that is unmatched by any other weapon system, it is no wonder that the U.S. Marine Corps considers there to be “… no finer service rifle in the world today”.
Colt M16A4 Rifle, now in production, features a performance identical to the M16A2. Physical differences between the two weapons include a removable carrying handle with an integral rail-mounting system on the M16A4. When the carrying handle is removed, any accessory device with a rail grabber, such as an optical sight, can be mounted on the weapon.
The M16A4 Rifle barrel is designed to accept the M203 Grenade Launcher which can easily be assembled to the rifle offering the user both point and area firing capabilities. Also, all US and NATO rifle grenades can be fired without any supplementary equipment.
The new concepts of rapid deployment, mobility and increased firepower play a major part in the overall strategy of modern warfare. Increased emphasis is now put on small tactical units that are able to “get in and out” fast. Increased need for a lightweight, highly dependable, accurate service rifle with added fire power therefore exists. Colt M16A4 Rifle is the ultimate rifle in 5.56mm.

ต่อมาเมื่อบริษัท Armalite ได้ขายแบบแปลนปืน AR-15 ให้แก่บริษัทโคลต์ (Colt Firearms) ปืน AR-15 ก็ได้รับการพัฒนาจนออกมาเป็นปืน M16 และเข้าประจำการในกองทัพอากาศสหรัฐฯในปีค.ศ.1964 ส่วนทางกองทัพบกสหรัฐฯก็ได้นำปืน M16 มาพัฒนาต่อเป็นปืน XM16E1 ซึ่งได้เพิ่มระบบคันส่งลูกเลื่อน (Forward Assist Assembly) เข้ามาและเข้าประจำการในกองทัพบกสหรัฐฯพร้อมทั้งเรียกชื่อใหม่ว่า ""US Rifle, 5.56mm, M16A1" ในปีค.ศ. 1967 และยังมีการเปิดสายการผลิตปืน M16 ในรูปแบบอื่นๆ ที่คล้ายคลึงกันในอีกหลายประเทศทั่วโลก
ต่อมาในปีค.ศ. 1981 บริษัทโคลต์จึงได้พัฒนาและปรับปรุงปืน M16A1 จนออกมาเป็นปืน M16A1E1 เพื่อรองรับกระสุนขนาด 5.56x45 mm. NATO รุ่นใหม่คือกระสุน M855 Ball หรือ SS-109 ซึ่งมีความแม่นยำและอานุภาพทำลายล้างมากกว่าเดิม จนในปีค.ศ. 1982 หน่วย US Department of Defense (US DoD)จึงได้บรรจุปืน M16 รุ่นนี้เข้าประจำการและเรียกในชื่อใหม่ว่า "US Rifle, 5.56mm, M16A2" ซึ่งปืน M16A2 นี้สามารถยิงได้เพียง 2 รูปแบบ คือ แบบกึ่งอัตโนมัติ (Semi-Auto) ครั้งละ 1 นัด/ครั้ง และแบบอัตโนมัติชุดละ 3 นัด (Burst Auto) โดยมีคันบังคับการยิงให้จัดเลือกอยู่ทางด้านซ้ายเหนือด้ามปืน ซึ่งต่างจากปืน M16A1 ตรงที่แบบอัตโนมัติของรุ่น A1 จะเป็นแบบอัตโนมัติเต็มตัว (Full-Auto) กล่าวคือปืนจะทำการยิงตามวงรอบการทำงานไปเรื่อยๆจนกว่าผู้ยิงจะเลิกเหนี่ยวไกปืนหรือจนกว่ากระสุนจะหมดซองกระสุน มิใช่ยิงเป็นชุดเพียง 3 นัดเท่านั้น ไม่ว่าผู้ยิงจะเหนี่ยวไกค้างไว้หรือไม่ก็ตาม
ในปีค.ศ. 1994 ทางบริษัทโคลต์ได้มีการปรับปรุงสมรรถภาพของปืน M16A2 อีกครั้งเป็นรุ่น A3 และ A4 ตามลำดับ โดยปืน M16A3 นั้นสามารถยิงได้สองโหมดคือ ยิงทีละนัด (Semi-Auto)และยิงอัตโนมัติเต็มตัว (Full-Auto)เท่านั้น ส่วนปืน M16A4 นั้นรูปร่างก็มิได้แตกต่างไปจากรุ่น A3 เพียงแต่จะยิงได้สองโหมดนี้คือ โหมดยิงทีละนัด (Semi-Auto) และแบบอัตโนมัติชุดละ3นัด (Three-Burst Auto) เพียงเท่านั้น โดยทั้งรุ่น A3 และ A4 มีลักษณะภายนอกคล้ายกับ A2 ทุกประการแต่สามารถถอดด้ามหูหิ้ว (Flat Top Recceiver)ออกเพื่อติดตั้งอุปกรณ์เสริมต่างๆได้ในขณะที่ A2 จะเป็นแบบติดตั้งตายตัว
ในช่วงทศวรรษ 1980 ปืน M16A1 ติดขาทรายและปืนกลเบา M60 จะถูกแทนที่ด้วยปืนกลเบา SAW M249 ซึ่งใช้กระสุนขนาด 5.56x45 mm.
